Georgia fans mercilessly mock Tennessee for losing to South Carolina

Georgia Bulldogs fans poked fun at the Tennessee Volunteers after losing to the South Carolina Gamecocks and a college football playoff berth.

The Georgia Bulldogs had secured a berth in the SEC Championship Game prior to Week 12 of the season. That was after they defeated the Tennessee Volunteers in week 10. Despite this, the Volunteers still had a shot at making the college football playoffs. All they had to do was win on a winnable schedule.

Volunteers fans may have said they were coming back to face Georgia, but that’s officially off the table now. Tennessee was completely decimated by the South Carolina Gamecocks 63-38. As this is their second loss of the season, a place in the playoffs is out of the question.

Georgia fans happily reminded her of that fact on Twitter.

Tennessee surrendered five first-half touchdowns to South Carolina, four of which came from quarterback Spencer Rattler’s arm. Still, they were still in it, going down 35-24 at halftime.

Then the wheels fell off in the second half. In the third quarter, Antwane Wells Jr. extended South Carolina’s lead to 42-31 on a 3-yard touchdown run. As if the loss wasn’t cliche for Tennessee before, three South Carolina touchdowns made it pretty safe.

Tennessee suffered a scare in the fourth quarter when quarterback Hendon Hooker left with a left leg injury and didn’t return.

Rattler had a great game, completing 30 passes for 438 yards and six touchdowns on 37 throws.

Georgia fans took the time to bring Tennessee back to earth as their hopes of contending for the CFP national title officially ended. The Bulldogs are playing a Georgia Tech team that upset North Carolina in Week 13. Then they face LSU in the SEC championship game.
