The week before the game, the Hawks and Georgia Power will host Career Readiness and SMILE Training through the True To You Career Center for US Military Veterans at State Farm Arena on Friday, November 4th. This training event will be held with the aim of educating and educating attendees on career readiness tactics through an interactive, discussion-based session with veterans currently employed by both companies.
“We are honored to partner with Georgia Power to recognize and celebrate the service and sacrifice of this country’s heroes,” said Andrew Saltzman, Hawks executive vice president and chief revenue officer. “We hope that both Friday’s career readiness event and Wednesday’s game program will show our gratitude to these men and women who have bravely served our country.”
Before the game on Wednesday, November 9, US Army veteran Jayme Alilaw will sing the national anthem. Two veterans who also happen to be Georgia Power employees will also be honorary co-captains for the game.
The curriculum for the five-hour training event is based on the principles of SMILE (Southern Hospitality, Make a Moment, Individuals Matter, Listen and Learn, and Empowerment) and concludes with a panel discussion featuring staff members who are also veterans from both the Hawks and Georgia Power. At the conclusion of the event, each Veteran in attendance will also receive a certificate, which can be included on their resume as a professional development experience, demonstrating that the Veteran knows the essential people skills required and is willing to demonstrate them in gainful employment. In addition, each participant will receive two tickets for the “Veterans Appreciation Night” on November 9th.
In September, the Hawks announced their full promotional calendar for the 2022-23 season, which will include 19 home games that will recognize and celebrate the diversity of Hawks fans and their interests with special promotions, exclusive ticket offers and limited-edition giveaways.
