North Carolina, No. 13, is back at Kenan Stadium for the first time since beating Pittsburgh on Oct. 29. The Tar Heels (9-1, 6-0 ACC) take on Georgia Tech (4-6, 3-4). in a proverbial trap game with their spot in the ACC Championship secured against Clemson and rival NC State, who awaits them in next week’s regular-season finals.

The Yellow Jackets averted disaster when Malachi Carter recovered a fumble from Jamie Felix to retain possession. Quarterback Taisun Phommachanh finished the 68-yard drive with a 4-yard scoring run.

Smith TD Run: GT 7, UNC 17. 2Q

Hassan Hall’s 36-yard reception set up a 2-yard scoring run by Dontae Smith.

Tigh End Bryson Nesbit’s 36-yard catch and run set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Elijah Green, his second of the game.

Noah Burnette kicked a 31-yard field goal when Carolina’s drive faltered within the 10.

Georgia Tech kicker Gavin Newsome missed his first field goal attempt of the season with a 45-yarder. Defending champion David Shanahan didn’t bring the ball down cleanly and Newsome’s attempt couldn’t find air under it. Newsome was previously 12-for-12 at field goals.
