Volleyball ends regular season with Pivotal Series vs. Georgia – LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The final weekend of the regular season, the LSU Tigers will take on Georgia on November 25-26 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

LSU (15-11, 9-7 SEK) and Georgia (20-7, 11-5 SEK) open the weekend with a game Friday at 3 p.m. and end the series at 12 p.m. Saturday in honor of Jill Bohnet, Emily Gauthreaux and Hannah Jacobs, Allee Morris and Josie Vondran for Seniors Day. Both games will be streamed on SEC Network+ with Lyn Rollins and Fran Flory in conversation.

The Tigers are hitting .226 behind 12.70 kills and 11.71 assists per set this season. LSU holds a 10-1 record when hitting over .250 in a match, including a 7-0 mark when hitting over .300. Defensively, LSU allows their opponents a .204 batting average (No. 5 in the SEC) and ranks No. 2 in the league with 15.38 digs per set. LSU has kept teams under a .200 attacking percentage 14 times this season and averaged 2.06 blocks per set.

Outside hitter Sanaa Dotson leads the team with 3.64 kills per set and 25 aces in the season, adding 43 blocks to her season totals. Outside hitter Paige Flickinger follows with 2.61 kills per set and has 20 aces and 2.59 digs per set. Dotson and Flickinger lead the team with eight double-doubles each.

Libero Ella Larkin leads the SEC with 4.41 digs per set (467 total) and is 31 digs away from entering the top 10 in the program’s record book for most digs in a single season (Raigen Cianciulli No. 10 with 498 total excavations). . Larkin has racked up four 30-plus dig performances this season and has 14 aces.

Setter Josie Vondran ranks 10th in the conference with 6.60 assists per set and contributes 95 kills, 54 blocks and 13 aces. Freshman setter Maddie Waak has registered 4.37 assists per set, along with 17 aces, and has three double-doubles this season. Middle blocker Anita Anwusi leads the team with 1.11 blocks per set (118 total) and has amassed a total of 191 kills this year. Anwusi has over 300 career kills and four kills under 500 career kills.

Georgia is one of the hottest teams in the SEC, ranking third in the conference standings. The Bulldogs rank 7th in the SEC with an attacking percentage of .241 and second with 1.80 aces per set. UGA is also solid defensively, holding its opponents at a .186 batting average and averaging 2.64 blocks per set, both brands ranked 3rd in the SEC. However, Georgia ranks last with 12.02 digs per set.

Outside hitter Kacie Evans ranks third in the SEC with 4.03 kills per set and second with .42 aces and 4.83 points per set. Middle blocker Sophie Fischer is the SEC leader with 1.53 blocks per set and sixth with a .338 batting average behind teammate and counterpart Mackenzie Norris, who has a .346 batting average (#5 in SEC). Other impact players for the Bulldogs include underdog Amber Stivrins, averaging .34 aces per set (No. 4 SEC) and defensive end specialist Bailey Cox, averaging 3.44 digs per set (No. 10 SEC).

LSU leads Georgia in the all-time streak 40-25 and is currently on a three-game winning streak when the two clubs play in Baton Rouge. The Tigers and Bulldogs shared last season’s two-game streak in Athens, Georgia.
