Gilfordchristmas music

The Carter Mountain Brass Band, conducted by Debbi Gibson, will present a multimedia event entitled “Christmas Around the World” on December 4th at 3pm at First United Methodist Church, Gilford. Projected visuals accompany the music along with interspersed poems and stories. After the concert, the audience is invited to dessert. We appreciate a $10 donation, the proceeds of which will be split between the church and the band.

Gilfordholiday events

Gilford Community Church (GCC) will host a Community Tree Lighting on November 27th at 6pm. After the tree lighting, Christmas carols will be sung outdoors, followed by a short service led by children and youth from the church and community. The evening ends with refreshments including coffee, hot chocolate, cookies and brownies). The GCC’s holiday celebrations continue with the annual Christmas market on December 2nd (4pm to 6pm) and December 3rd (9am to 1pm). GCC is currently accepting donations of non-electronic items for the show. Items can be dropped off at the church at 19 Potter Hill Rd. in Gilford. CanterburyGirl Scouts

Girls in Kindergarten through 3rd grade and a caregiver are invited to learn about opportunities to get involved in your community. Try sample activities and see the many ways to get involved on December 6th from 5:30-6:30pm at Canterbury Elementary School, 15 Baptist Rd. You can also register online at any time at girlscoutsgwm.org. Newcomers are welcome.

Young local authors are invited to read their work during It’s by the Kids Open Mic Night on December 7th at 5:30pm at Belknap Marketplace. Several readers scheduled to attend the event are featured in a new book produced and published by the Janice Beetle Books 2022 Challenge Team. It’s by the Kids: An anthology of children’s artwork and stories. This book features stories and drawings by local children and costs $10. All proceeds benefit the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction. The reading takes place directly before the auction, so that the participants also have the opportunity to experience the auction live. Children wishing to attend the reading should register with Janice Beetle by emailing [email protected] Reading material can be of any genre and the material must be suitable for all ages. HopkintonWinter art exhibition

The Two Villages Art Society (TVAS) is hosting their annual winter exhibition and sale in Hopkinton from November 25th to December 24th. The works of over 30 artist members are displayed and for sale at the gallery on Main Street. A wide range of work has been selected for the exhibition, including oil and watercolor paintings, ceramics, prints, photographs, jewelry, woodwork, glasswork, felted animals, wearable art and more. They are created by artists and craftspeople from Hopkinton, Bradford, Warner, New London and other surrounding cities. The show is arranged by TVAS Board of Trustees members Parker Potter and Kathleen Dustin. Participating artists include Sher Kamman, Steve Frye, Jane Tentas, Eileen Carter, Dan Dustin, Jo Grubman, Jeffry Shapira, Pamela Tarbell and Helen Fitzgerald. Many of the exhibitors are judged members of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen. The Winter 2022 Members’ Art Show will be held at the Bates Building at 846 Main Street in Contoocook (part of the city of Hopkinton). The gallery is open to the public from Thursday to Sunday from 12pm to 4pm On Saturday 3rd December and Sunday 4th December the public is invited to a reception to meet the artists and light Refreshments to be enjoyed from 12pm to 2pm on Saturday 3rd December.
