New Hampshire Spirit of Giving Food Drive 2022: How to help

Grocery shoppers can donate to feed their friends and neighbors in need at the Spirit of Giving exhibit at any Hannaford, Shaw’s or Walmart store in New Hampshire over the weekend of December 9-11. You can also donate money to the New Hampshire Food Bank. For every $1.28 donated, the New Hampshire Food Bank can provide approximately two meals. THE NEED By 2022, approximately 7 percent of people, including 9.5 percent of children, in New Hampshire will face food insecurity, meaning they will not have consistent access to nutritious food. PARTICIPATING LOCATIONS All Hannaford, Shaw’s and Walmart stores in New Hampshire are participating. Monetary donations can be made at nhfoodbank.org through December 31st. FUNDING STORY In 2019, the New Hampshire Food Bank distributed more than 14.2 million pounds of food and provided the equivalent of 12,923,938 meals. In 2020, the New Hampshire Food Bank distributed more than 17.7 million pounds of food and provided the equivalent of 14,913,220 meals. In 2021, the New Hampshire Food Bank distributed more than 17.1 million pounds of food and provided the equivalent of 14,510,570 meals. Currently, the Food Bank serves more than 400 partner agencies across the state, which in turn distributes food supplies, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, children’s programs, senior centers and more. The New Hampshire Food Bank supplies about half of the groceries these agencies distribute to those in need. The Food Bank receives no federal or state funding for food distribution.
