Michigan-Ohio State Highlights: McCarthy and Edwards lead Wolverines to victory

JJ McCarthy passed for 263 yards and three touchdowns while adding 27 yards and a point on floor as No. 3 Michigan put together a huge fourth quarter to secure a 45-23 win over No. 2 Ohio State.

Donovan Edwards added a career-high 216 yards and two rushing scores as the Wolverines put their stamp on a perfect 12-0 regular season and potted their ticket to the Big Ten Championship Game.

Q4, 1:48: Wolverines stamp their ticket

Michigan’s Makari Paige took CJ Stroud’s pass with 1:48 in play to seal the win. With the win, the Wolverines stamped their ticket to the Big Ten Championship Game.

Q4, 3:19: Signed, sealed, delivered.

Michigan wasted little time capitalizing on the timely interception. Donovan Edwards broke up another massive TD run, this time for 85 yards, giving the Wolverines a 45-23 lead.

Q4, 4:19: Breakthrough sales

With CJ Stroud and the Buckeyes driving late in the fourth quarter, Michigan’s Taylor Upshaw came on with a huge interception to give the ball back to the Wolverines.

Q4, 7:11: WHAT. A. RUN!

Michigan held on to an eight-point lead, seized possession and returned to the run game. It was then that Donovan Edwards broke up a huge 75-yard touchdown run, giving the Wolverines a 38-23 lead.

Q4, 8:38: Big game prepares Ohio State FG

Stroud threw a laser to Emeka Egbuka for a 43-yard gain. That led to an Ohio State field goal to make it 31-23.

Q4, 13:10: McCarthy does everything for the Wolverines

Michigan QB JJ McCarthy has the game of his life. On a crucial third-down play, he kept it himself and put it in the notch, giving the Wolverines a 31-20 lead.

Q3, 2:29: Michigan shows some tricks

Kalel Mullings took over the handoff and instead of running to the middle, he threw a jump pass to tight end Luke Schoonmaker for a first down.

Q3, 11:56: McCarthy has the hat trick!

Michigan got on the board first after halftime as McCarthy teamed with Colston Loveland early in the third quarter to put the Wolverines back ahead 24-20.

Q2, 3:49: We have a track meeting

If you like dots, this is the game for you! Shortly after Michigan took the lead with a big game, Ohio State hit straight back. CJ Stroud tossed a perfect 42-yard TD pass to Marvin Harrison Jr., giving the Buckeyes a 20-17 advantage.

Q2, 5:24: Cornelius strikes again

After Ohio State took the lead with a field goal, Michigan hit back with another big play. McCarthy teamed with Cornelius Johnson for a massive 75-yard touchdown to give the Wolverines a 17-13 lead.

Q2, 7:26: WHAT. A GAME.

McCarthy connected with Johnson, who broke a pair of tackles and turned on the Jets and cruised into the end zone to tie the game.

Q2, 10:41: Put the pressure on

Zach Harrison made his presence felt early in the second quarter. The star defensive end pressed and knocked down a McCarthy pass attempt.

Q1, 1:19: Up and good

Ohio State’s Noah Ruggles kicked a 32-yard field goal to put the Buckeyes ahead 10-3.

Q1, 7:37: Perfect passing and catching

McCarthy crawled and delivered a perfect pass to Ronnie Bell for the big win. That catch set up a field goal and cut the deficit to 7-3.

Q1, 10:02: Horse chestnuts strike first!

Ohio State put together an impressive first drive that ended with a four-yard TD shot from Stroud to Emeka Egbuka.

8:55 p.m. ET: Ohio State officially shut down TreVeyon Henderson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba

The Buckeyes will be missing two stars through injury, among eight players absent for the team. Henderson was injured in the game against Maryland last week and injured his foot again. Smith-Njigba was expected to challenge for the Heisman this season before suffering a hamstring injury, limiting him to three games this season.

8:40 p.m. ET: Blake Corum is reportedly planning to play

Michigan seems to be getting a big boost, per ESPN report this star running back Blake Corum plans to take on Ohio State. Corum absorbed a low open field tackle in the second quarter of last Saturday’s game against Illinois and immediately clutched his left knee in pain. His status has been up in the air all week.

Corum is the undisputed centerpiece of this year’s Michigan offense with 245 carries for 1,457 yards and 18 touchdowns – all of which are in the top 7 nationally. We’ll find out how much he can give Michigan if he actually plays on Saturday.
